It will depend on what kind of bleeding it is. I had small bleeds with no pain or cramps with my first pregnancy for the first 3 months. They coincided with when my periods would have been and were breakthrough bleeds. They stopped after that and I had no further problems. The rest of my pregnancy was event free and my daughter was born sound and healthy 28 years ago. She is now a mother herself.

Interestingly when I had my son some 2 years later I had no breakthrough bleeds at all.

Unfortunately if you're having cramps and the bleeding is heavy and fresh it may be that this pregnancy is not to be.
